John Matheson earned his Juris Doctor Degree from Rutgers University School of Law, in 2001; the same year he passed the Mass. bar. John also earned a Master's Degree in Business from Suffolk University, and a Bachelor’s Degree, Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts.
In addition to the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court, Attorney Matheson is also admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts (2004), The First Circuit Court of Appeals (2005), and the United States Supreme Court (2007). Attorney Matheson also holds a Notary Public appointment and a real estate broker license with the Mass. Dept. of Professional Licensure.
Public Service
Attorney Matheson is a lifelong member of the Malden community. John served on the Malden City Council for 9 years, at-Large, Ward 3, and as City Council President. John is past president and chairman of the Bread of Life, Inc.; a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that distributes over one Million meals per year to those in need. Past and present memberships include the Masons, Shriners, Rotary Club, Boston Bar Assoc. and Mass. Bar Assoc. As a law clerk John worked for the Volunteers for the Indigent of Philadelphia.
